It doesn’t feel good, but my own sense of inspiration can go up and down as quickly as red bouncy ball.

This summer, so far has been just like that.

At times, it’s felt really disasterous.  I’ve had a million ( about 6 big ) projects that I want to complete, and the enormity of each of them (at least to me) has left me somewhat paralyzed and somewhat incoherent.  Just for a better sense of things, they are, in no particular order:

1.  Creating a website for myself.  This includes documenting all of my art work, photos, and such.  Organizing all of the pieces, and then designing a way to display all of it well online.

2.  Finish the SL/Africa Book Project.  This one’s been on the back-burner for a long time.  I need to recollect all of the art work and reformat it into a book for a couple of youth in Freetown.  I want to finish this before Kristin leaves for SL in August.

3.  Reorganize and Edit my photography collection.  I have over 5000 photos from the last couple years.  I want to finish editing them, sort through images I want to keep, and tag+label all of the images so I can access them in a organized way.  It would also be good to spend about 100 hours learning Lightroom techniques, so I can tighten-up my digital workflow.

4.  Clean and Restructure my room so that it becomes a good place for rest and [art] work.  I want to set up my room so that I’ll be able to do art work at home.  This includes clearing out stuff (so there’s more room), putting in the loft, and also arranging for a larger table, dedicated to creativity, not junk and clutter.

5.  Reorganizing all of my art supplies, so they are easy to find, and accessible.  This is pretty self explanatory.  I’ve amassed a lot of supplies, and I’m often searching for stuff when I need it because it’s too messy and chaotic.

6.  Research graduate schools.  Mills, CSUSF/EB, etc.

7.  Prepare for teaching Eco-Art next year.  I’d like to document all of my lessons, and get them ready for next year so that I won’t spend much time prepping.  This includes getting materials ready beforehand, and mapping out the calendar year.

8.  Making art connections.  Find new art friends, mentors, and people to connect with about: photography, drawing + painting, and design.

9.  Artmaking:  Combining Screenprinting and Drawings.  Working with my friend Marcus to begin a series of screenprint/drawings that interweave the two mediums.

It’s good for me to write out things, and make them public, because then it makes things real, and not just ideas in my head.

Well, lots to do.
